2015 Fort Wayne Budget Up for Final Vote

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Approving the 2015 budget highlights Tuesday's agenda at Fort Wayne Council.

The City's $150 million spending plan comes under review for one last time tonight.The budget calls for new police officers and includes $5.5 million in one-time expenses. $2.8 million of that covers a rare 27th pay period. The current budget is $142 million.

Also on tap tonight, A new police contract and tax relief for a major employer will be introduced to council.

Last week, the Patrolman’s Benevolent Association approved a new three-year deal that includes a 2 percent annual raise. A final vote could come November 18.

Meanwhile a proposal to grant tax phase ins to Dana makes its way to the agenda. The company is planning more than $49 million in improvements and renovations to the plant on West State.

The factory employs more than 500 workers and supplies axles and similar parts to the auto industry.
