2 People Atop SUV in Floodwaters Rescued near Fort Wayne

POE, Ind. (AP) – Two people have been rescued from the top of an SUV after it got stuck in floodwaters outside of Fort Wayne.

The driver had called 911 around 11:15 p.m. Sunday to say her Jeep was stuck in deep floodwater in an area that's about 12 miles southeast of Fort Wayne.

The water was about 4 feet deep. Both were given life jackets by rescue swimmers until they could be taken by boat to safety.

They were in the water for about 20 to 30 minutes and later evaluated by medics at the scene. It wasn't clear if they were hurt.
