KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): After a month long investigation into at least 34 burglaries, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department arrested two people this week.

Kurtis Gunkel, 41, of Warsaw was arrested on preliminary felony charges of burglary and theft. Eric Swick, 35, of Macy was also arrested on preliminary felony charges of burglary and theft, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began after a man saw a burglary in progress while he was fishing. The man took pictures of the burglary on his cell phone and gave them to the police. The photos led the police to Gunkel and Swick.

During the investigation, police say they found televisions, power tools, electronics, power washers, hand tools, chain saws, air compressors, generators, battery charges, fishing equipment and other items that had been stolen from local residents.

Police say the two men stole more than $20,000 worth of items since April.

Detectives said that all potential victims have been contacted about the arrests and the items have been recovered. The burglaries happened in North Webster, Barbee Lake and Shoe Lake areas.

Gunkel is being held in Kosciusko County Jail on a $15,500 bond and Swick is being held on a $20,500 bond.
