FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The 19th annual Coats for Kids campaign kicked off Tuesday at MLK Montessori School.

The Coats for Kids campaign traditionally provides more than 5,000 warm winter coats to local under served children each year. To date, 60,000 coats have been delivered to approximately 80 area schools and social service agencies.

If you don’t have a coat to donate, a $25 donation will provide a new coat, hat, scarf and mittens to a child in need. Secure online donations are being accepted at www.volunteerfortwayne.org.

After the campaign’s end, Fort Wayne Firefighters, YMCA team members and community volunteers will deliver the coats to schools and social service agencies during the week of December 17, prior to holiday break.

If you are a family in need of a coat for your child, contact your school case manager or counselor and ask them to make a referral to Coats for Kids.
