FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 19-year-old who was already imprisoned for another crime was sentenced to 60 years in prison for attempted rape on Thursday.

Walik Whiteside was found guilty in May after he represented himself in the trial, according to the Journal Gazette.

In 2012, police say he attacked a women running on the Rivergreenway near Lower Huntington Road. Another runner stopped the attack. Whiteside wasn’t charged until 2015 when DNA collected from the scene matched a sample of his DNA.

Police say Whiteside attacked another inmate in February while he was in jail waiting for the trial. He was charged with battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony. He will serve 182 days in prison for that.

He was already in prison serving a 25 year-sentence for a 2012 robbery. When he is finished serving the robbery sentence, he will serve the rape sentence.
