FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man who punched a boy during a home robbery will be in jail for a while.

18-year-old Jacob Boatright was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison for robbery resulting in bodily injury and burglary resulting in bodily injury, according to the News-Sentinel.

He was sentenced to the maximum 12 year term, but three years were suspended and Boatright will be placed on probation.

In August, Boatright and another person broke into a woman’s hole and stole an XBox, games, jewelry and a cordless phone. During the robbery, he punched an 11-year-old boy in the face.

Boatright, who reportedly hid his face and cried during most of the proceedings Tuesday, said he robbed the family because he wanted to get high, according to the News-Sentinel.

Boatright had a lengthy criminal history prior to this incident.
