16 area schools are the best in Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Sixteen of the best schools in Indiana are located here in the Fort Wayne area.

The Indiana Department of Education announced 287 schools in the state that earned the title of a Four Star School on Tuesday.

Three East Allen County Schools, five Northwest Allen County Schools and four Southwest Allen County Schools earned the rating.

To become a Four Star School, a school must be in the top 25 percentile of schools in two ISTEP+ categories and must earn an “A” rating, according to the IDOE.

The Fort Wayne schools that earned the title are:

  • Blackhawk Christian
  • Bishop Dwenger High School
  • Cedarville Elementary School
  • Leo Elementary School (in Leo)
  • Leo Junior/Senior High School (in Leo)
  • Fred H Croninger Elementary School
  • Aboite Elementary School
  • Homestead Senior High School
  • Summit Middle School
  • Woodside Middle School
  • Oak View Elementary School
  • Maple Creek Middle School
  • Cedar Canyon Elementary School
  • Carroll Middle School
  • Carroll High School
  • Concordia Lutheran High School

The document listed is for 2014-2015. Is there a recent one or are you just reporting on last school year?

Indiana Department of Education just released this list. IDOE hasn’t released any information about this last year school year. When they do, we’ll report on it. Thanks for the comment! -Saige
