KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the neck.
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department were called to Shamrock Mobile Home Park around 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, where the found the teenager.
The boy was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment.
The shooting is believed to have been accidental, but police say their investigation was hampered by an attempt to dispose of the handgun, and also by giving police false information.
Several people were inside the mobile home at the time of the shooting. The gun was being handled by Amika Bolen, 22, of Warsaw, when it discharged, Warsaw Police stated.
After the shooting, Dylan Lawson, 21, of Warsaw, took the gun and threw it in some nearby woods before police arrived, Warsaw Police stated.
Bolen intentionally gave police the wrong information on who was handling the handgun when it discharged, according to the investigation.
Bolen was arrested on a charge of criminal recklessness for shooting a firearm in a dwelling. She is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,250.00 surety bond.
Lawson was arrested on a preliminary charge of obstruction of justice. Sasha Bolen, 24 of Warsaw, was arrested on a preliminary charge of false informing, investigators stated.
