13 Year Old Drowns Near Downtown Indianapolis

MARION COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  A 13 year old has drowned near downtown Indianapolis.  


Around 11:47 p.m. Friday night, emergency crews were called to the the area of 1000 Kentucky Avenue near downtown Indianapolis when a person was spotted in the White River.  They found 13 year old Mitch Strong of Indianapolis in the White River when he accidentally entered deeper water.  Strong struggled and was swept further away from shore.  Unfortunately he did not know how to swim.

Two of his friends tried to save him, but could not.  Divers for the Indianapolis Fire Department began a search and found Strong's body around 3:05 a.m. Saturday morning.
