122nd Fighter Wing Warplane Had Engine Failure in Iraq

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 122nd Fighter Wing warplane suffered engine failure while refueling in Iraq.

The A-10 warplane was forced to make an emergency landing at an airbase that has been targeted repeatedly by ISIS militants in recent months. The Journal-Gazette says that the U.S. Central Command report does not mention when the engine failure happened, but a spokesman says it wasn't “extremely recent”.

Quick repairs were made to the jet, which was back in service in about five days.

About 300 members of the 122nd Fighter Wing returned to Fort Wayne last week after being deployed in the Middle East the past six months.
