FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): IPFW will soon become two separate schools.
On Friday, the Purdue University Board of Trustees approved the realignment, according to Niki Kelly from the Journal Gazette. The proposal will split IPFW into two separate entities.

Earlier this month, The Indiana University Board of Trustees approved the proposal.
The agreement would transfer Purdue’s IPFW nursing, medical imagine and dental education programs to IU. Purdue University would handle the rest of the programs. It will go into effect by July 1, 2018.
“Current students will be given a time period in order to graduate from the institution that they are currently enrolled,” IPFW Spokesperson Kimberly Wagner said. “They will have until July 1, 2021.”

IPFW released the statment below shortly after the vote.
“Today, the Purdue University Board of Trustees voted to approve an agreement and plan of realignment for IPFW that lays the framework for the future governance of the Fort Wayne campus. This follows the Dec. 1 approval by the Indiana University Trustees and marks the key step needed to move the plan forward. IPFW will continue working with Purdue and IU as they focus on their academic mission areas with a view toward a successful future for our students, our campus community, our city, and the northeast Indiana region.”
