One dead in Steuben County crash

PLEASANT LAKE, Ind. (WOWO): One person is dead and another injured after a single-vehicle crash that happened Friday night on Bellefountaine Road just west of Meridian Road.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department tells WOWO News 46-year-old Owen Myers of Pleasant Lake was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse westbound on Bellefountaine Road at “a high rate of speed” when he lost control, went off the road and hit two trees.

Myers was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 26-year-old Christopher Harman of Kunkle, Ohio, was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition at a Fort Wayne hospital.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
