Murder Case Dismissed After Key Witness Dies in Accident

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man suspected in a 2014 shooting death will not go to trial.

Murder charges against Charles Benson have been dropped.  According to our partners in News at 21Alive, a key witness in the case died after being hit by a train in March.

The death of the witness, Dreyden Troyer, was ruled accidental and not the result of foul play.

Benson allegedly was caught on video firing more than 40 rounds into a vehicle on Eby Avenue.

Those shots ultimately killed 25-year old John Holman.
