Mayor Henry Proposes TIF District for Quimby Village

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Mayor Tom Henry wants to revive Quimby Village in south Fort Wayne. And to do it, he's proposing a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district.

It would be bounded by Bluffton Road to the south, Broadway to the east, Nuttman and Kinsmoor Avenues to the north, and Brooklyn Avenue to the west. A TIF district would mean any new tax revenues in that district would exclusively go towards Quimby Village improvements.

It will be considered next week by the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission, with possible final City Council approval in February 2016.

It's part of Mayor Henry's desire to add businesses to the underserved south Fort Wayne area.
