Local firefighters donate to local charities

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Fort Wayne firefighters have put a focus on community fundraising.

On Thursday, the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters local 124 donated $12,000 to various charities throughout this year, including:

$4,000 Hoosier burn camp
$4,000 American Cancer Society-Strides against beast cancer
$2,000 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society- research for blood cancers
$2,000 Dragon Boat Races – Mayors youth council

“Firefighters are blessed with the opportunity to partner with our local community and title sponsors in an effort to generate funds for life assistance to families and research for cures,” said president Jeremy Bush.  “We appreciate the overwhelming public support we continue to receive in our fundraising efforts.”

They also pledged to donate $6,000 to various individuals throughout the year.  Funds will go towards helping purchase items for children with extended hospital stays and victims assistance.

They thank both the Hoosier Lottery and Fire Police City County FCU for the help in fundraising.
