FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne Police detective accused of driving drunk and crashing his car has been placed on unpaid leave.

Brent Roddy, 36, is charged with operating while intoxicated while endangering a person, operating while intoxicated, reckless driving causing an accident and leaving the scene of the crash.

The Board of Public Safety decided during a hearing on Tuesday that Roddy should be on unpaid administrative leave, according to our news partners at 21Alive.

On Sunday, March 27, officers responded to call about a crash at Rothman Road and Denise Drive. When officers arrived at about 1 a.m., they found a damaged vehicle but no driver inside.

Roddy was found about a mile from the crash and police arrested him. Police say he had blood alcohol content level of 0.21 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit.

The crash report says the vehicle went off the road at a curve then hit a sign and slid into a power pole.
