FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We now have more details on the deaths of two Fort Wayne children taken from their home by their biological mother early Monday morning.

The bodies of 7-year-old Liliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor were found by Elkhart police Monday evening. They had both been asphyxiated. Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill talks about what happened:

“A police officer was walking outside of the Elkhart Police Department and was flagged down by a woman identified as 29-year-old Amber Pasztor of Fort Wayne. He found two dead children in her vehicle.”

Hours later, the body of a man initially identified as a suspect in the disappearance of the children was found near the kids’ house Tuesday morning. 65-year-old Frank Macomber had been killed by a single gunshot, according to Allen County authorities. Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards says Macomber is definitely involved in the case:

“We do believe there is some connection between Mr. Macomber and (Pasztor). There’s some kind of relationship there but at this point, we’re not sure what it is.”

Pasztor is now facing likely murder charges, but she hasn’t been formally charged yet. Prosecutors say Macomber was killed before the children were taken.
