January Trial Date Set in Allen County for Suspect in Indy House Explosion

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ An Indianapolis man charged in a deadly house explosion will stand trial next January but could find out in September if a judge will reduce his bail.

Bob Leonard was in court in Allen County Wednesday for a hearing to set a trial date and consider motions in the case, including one to reduce his bond.

Leonard, his brother, Mark Leonard, and Monserrate Shirley are among four people charged in the November 2012 explosion at Shirley's house that killed a couple next door. The blast also damaged or destroyed dozens of homes.

Bob Leonard's trial will begin Jan. 19 and is expected to last six weeks. A hearing on the bail-reduction request will be held Sept. 22-24.

The trial was moved to Allen County because of pre-trial publicity.
