Group recommends IPFW split into two campuses


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A new working group report is recommending that IPFW split into two separate universities. 

The group’s recommendations, obtained Thursday by the Journal Gazette, include having the Indiana University side of what’s now known as IPFW focus on health science and medical education programs, while the rest of the college essentially becomes a Purdue campus. State Representative Martin Carbaugh of Fort Wayne tells the paper he’s hopeful the move will make adding programs easier, but IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein is no fan of the idea, calling the shift “unacceptable” on educational and operational grounds.

It’ll be up to both Indiana and Purdue Universities on whether or not they’ll take the recommendation.
