FWPD Officer Charged with Rape Created by kblakeslee on 12/5/2013 5:11:00 PM
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police Officer, Mark Rogers, who was originally charged with sexual misconduct, now faces two additional felony rape charges.
In a hearing earlier this week, the state added two class B felony rape charges against him.
These charges come on the heels of the 45-year-old being placed on unpaid leave back in September, after pleading not guilty to two counts of sexual misconduct, felonies, and one count of false reporting, a misdemeanor.
A woman claims the officer forced her to have sex on a park bench and she cooperated out of fear for her safety.
The police report filed by Rogers, claims he was transporting her to jail when she vomited in the police car. It then said that he took her to the hospital for evaluation and a blood test.
Records show a medical clearance form signed by the ER doctor and the officer. Video also shows the woman being hand-cuffed and led from the hospital. However, Rogers claimed in his report she was held for observation and he returned to the police station to file paperwork. Officials with the prosecutor’s office say an arrest warrant for the woman was never received from police.
Rogers will remain on unpaid leave until the criminal case is resolved in the Allen County court system.
