INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The state Senate minority leader is welcoming an ethics complaint against former Indiana schools chief Tony Bennett.
A complaint filed Thursday by Indiana's inspector general with the state's ethics commission accuses Bennett of improperly using state resources to engage in political fundraising, schedule campaign meetings and conduct other political or personal activity in violation of Indiana law.
Senate Minority Leader Tim Lanane had called in September for an investigation into the allegations against Bennett.
The Anderson Democrat said Thursday the ethics complaint is "appropriate" and the ethics panel needs to determine "what the facts are," including whether Bennett violated Indiana's ethics standards.

But Lanane says "we need to reserve judgment" until the commission releases its findings.
