INDIANA, (WOWO): It appears that NIPSCO is planning a big project to modernize its electrical network.

The project will cost 1-billion dollars over the next several years. Officials say they’ll work to replace hundreds of miles of electrical line both above and below ground--as well as some 75 substations.

The utility services 457-thousand customers across Northern Indiana. They have filed a request for a 1 percent rate increase from 2015 to 2020 for the work.

That rate decision likely won’t come till next year--meaning work would start in min 2014.
