CENTER POINT, Ind. (AP) _ An employee at an exotic cat refuge in western Indiana is in critical condition after being attacked by a tiger.
Clay Count Chief Deputy Rob Gambill says the 21-year-old woman was cleaning the tiger's cage at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center about 1 p.m. Friday in Center Point, about 20 miles east of Terre Haute, when the tiger attacked after the woman forgot to close a gate that separates the cage from a holding area.
Gambill says the tiger had the woman's head in its mouth. He says she was airlifted to Wishard Memorial Hospital and has some cuts and bone fractures, but the injuries are not life-threatening.
He says the U.S. Department of Agriculture will investigate the attack.
