Fort Wayne Schools Want 3rd Party to Review ISTEP Created by kblakeslee on 5/22/2013 3:39:11 PM
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana's largest school district says it wants a third party to validate this year's ISTEP+ test results before it accepts the scores because of disruptions caused by problems with the test administrator's server.
The Journal Gazette reported Wednesday that leaders at Fort Wayne Community Schools believe the exam shouldn't have been given before the testing company knew it could handle the volume of online testing. This is the first year Indiana has required most ISTEP+ tests to be taken online.
A message left with a spokesman for vendor CTB/McGraw-Hill wasn't immediately returned.
State schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz has said a third-party evaluation might be necessary to assure educators the results of the high-stakes test are valid.
ISTEP+ scores determine student performance, school rankings and teacher merit pay.
