MARION, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana Wesleyan University is promoting a top school administrator to become its new president.
The Marion-based university announced Tuesday that its Board of Trustees had selected provost and chief academic officer David Wright to take over as president in July. That's when Henry Smith steps down after seven years as the university's president.
University officials say Wright has helped lead Indiana Wesleyan online education and branch campus initiatives that have contributed to the school's enrollment more than doubling since 2000 to about 16,000 students.
That includes more than 12,000 adults attending classes at branches in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio and online. More than 3,000 students are enrolled on the main campus in Marion.
