BUFFALO, Ind. (AP) _ Northern Indiana officials say an explosion that leveled a house in White County shook homes and businesses for miles around and was heard up to 10 miles away.
Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department Chief Greg Westerhouse tells WLFI-TV that Monday morning's explosion in the small town of Buffalo about 30 miles north of Lafayette left behind ``devastation.''
Police said no one was injured by the blast, which spread insulation and debris across the area. Westerhouse says the State Fire Marshal's will investigate the explosion.
A shop owner two miles from the blast told WLFI-TV the explosion rattled his shop's windows.
Westerhouse says residents within 8 to 10 miles said they heard the explosion. He says the home is believed to be a summer residence that was unoccupied.
