ELKHART, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana sheriff told gun rights supporters at a weekend rally that he won't enforce any future laws that infringe on the public's right to bear arms.
Elkhart County Sheriff Bradley Rogers told about 200 people, many touting signs and carrying firearms, Sunday that he's pledging to oppose all future gun legislation imposed on the community he serves.
He drew loud applause when he told the crowd gathered outside South Bend's Morris Performing Art Center that he won't ``allow gun confiscation'' in Elkhart County and wont' ``enforce any additional anti-gun laws.''
The Elkhart Truth reports that Sunday's rally also included Republican U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, who told the gathering it's critical that lawmakers continue to protect the right to bear arms for responsible Americans.
