Komet Legend Ken Ullyot Dead at 92

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO: A Fort Wayne Komet great has died. 

Former coach, general manager and owner Ken Ullyot passed away today.

He took the reins of the hockey team in 1958 continuing through 1970. He also worked in the front office unto the 1980s.  As a coach, he led the team to Turner Cup Championships in 1963 and 1965.

The K's also won the title in 1973 with Ullyot as the General Manager. In 1997, Hockey News named him the International Hockey League's all-time greatest general manager.  

The jersey number 58, the year he joined the Komets, is retired in his honor.  Ullyot was 92.
