KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) _ A north-central Indiana school district plans to equip all of its school buses with wireless Internet access.

Kokomo-Center Schools' plan is part of nearly $200,000 in transportation upgrades that also include a GPS tracking system for all 65 district buses. The Internet service will cost $125,000 to install, with annual service rates of $5,000. But district spokesman Dave Barnes says part of that annual fee will come out of a federal grant.

District operations director Mike Wade tells the Kokomo Tribune Wi-Fi will especially help students involved in extra-curricular activities like sports and marching band.

Barnes says some homework must be done on a computer.

The district plans to issue every student a laptop within three years.
