MUNCIE, IND. (AP) - Muncie police officers will be armed with a new weapon in the fight against domestic violence.

The city's police department has received a $2,500 grant to buy digital cameras to help officers as they investigate domestic disturbances.

Delaware County prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold tells The Star Press that the cameras will enable officers to document domestic violence scenes and preserve evidence.

He says he wants to increase prosecution of such cases and believes the photographs will help.

The grant awarded by the Delaware County Prevention council is paying for 16 cameras.
