Fire Investigation Leads to Cause of Chapman Lake Blaze

A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire at 2147 Chapman Lake Drive started in the basement of the house. It was determined that the water lines had frozen and a portable heater was used in an attempt to thaw the pipes.

Evidence found that the fire appears to have started in close proximity to the portable heater. The fire remains under investigation by the Kosciusko county fire investigation team.

Original Story:

Kosciusko County fire fighters responded to a call just before 10:30 a.m. this morning on Chapman Lake Drive.

The residence was fully engulfed in flames and three people escaped without injury.  The fire then spread to a house just north, with individuals also escaping without injury.

However, upon further investigation a body was later found in the rubble; the victim has not been identified and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
