Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Encourages Hoosier

Nearly 1,500 Hoosier Healthwise members across the state will be reminded to visit their primary care physician

INDIANAPOLIS – September 17, 2012 – Nearly 1,500 Hoosier Healthwise members throughout the state will receive a personal phone call on September 20th from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield encouraging them to contact their assigned primary medical provider for preventive care. The initiative is part of a nationwide campaign called Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day that stresses the importance of getting regular check ups from health care professionals.

Representatives in Anthem’s Indianapolis, Evansville and Merrillville offices, will contact Hoosier Healthwise members throughout state the who have not seen their primary care physician and personally help connect them with their physician and if needed to make an appointment.

“Hoosier Healthwise members are assigned to primary medical providers who serve as the members’ primary contacts for personalized and preventive care and we want our members to understand the important role their doctors play in their overall well-being,” said Kimberly Roop, MD, medical director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  In addition, Dr. Roop recommends that individuals talk to their doctors about important tests, screenings or immunizations that may be needed for the whole family.
